Vacation vs. Backlog?
I love going on vacation, even though you know there will be a bit of an extra backlog when you get back. As a designer I think it is good to travel and see stuff in different places. You might not be thinking about work but somewhere in the back of your mind you pick up all kinds of inspiration. I caught myself making a button today that resembled a juice box in an advert that I might have seen between Hillary and Obama’s speeches last week.
So back in the office monday morning I was prepared for a bit of extra work, unfortunately sales had gone through the roof the week I was gone. So in addition to my backlog there were immense amounts of work to be done, listed below in no particular order I think I got all of it.
- I’ve got a development team waiting for 8 PSD’s for a social networking site.
- One programmer is waiting for the design of an Estate Agents Property Catalogue (3-4 PSD’s).
- 18 Banners (3 creatives in 6 sizes @ 5 frames minimum) need to be designed.
- Three clients want artwork for print prepared, all in all: 6 flyers, 4 postcards and 2 A0 posters.
- Two other programmers are waiting for one design each of E-commerce solutions, one for a fashion company and one for a Design orientated Homeware Accessories shop (4-5 PSD’s each).
- Three 5 page static sites (for 3 different clients) need to be designed and done in CSS.
- One logo is to be designed for an ‘Image consultant’.
- Another logo for a Care Home for the mentally challenged.
- And a final programmer is waiting for designs so he can build a Hotel/Villa/Appartment rental site (5-6 PSD’s).
Can anyone see me doing any overtime in the near future?
Either way, the vacation was worth it and I hope I picked some gems with me back home that I can use in the pending marathon of design challenges.
